During our holidays in the past years in Austria we crossed several times the border to visit Italy. Our favorite route is taking the Timmelsjoch High Alpine Road at the end of the Ötztal in Austria to South Tirol in Italy.

The toll road of almost 35 kilometers long has 30 hairpin bends and is open from 7 am to 8 pm. The highest point is 2509 meters. During the period of snowfall it is closed from roughly November to May.

When the weather is right it is possible to take some beautiful photos from the surrounding mountains and valleys, like the Seebertal at the Italian side. The best moment is in the morning as the nicest views can be made digital while having the sun in your back.
