Development of the Piwigo theme ‘Elegant Metadata for desktop’ started in December 2020, based on the ‘Elegant’ theme created by the Piwigo developers. Initially I just copied the ‘Elegant’ theme, gave it a new name and started modifying it. This worked fine for personal use on one site, but copying it to another site made clear I had not setup it wisely. I had again to dive into changing the theme and some coding. This is not sustainable with respect to maintenance and publishing my theme in near future for use by others. So I decided to build-up the theme from scratch following the guidelines for theme development as published on the Piwigo website.

To help others I decided to publish my experience on FotoKruse.eu. When the theme is finished I  will make it available to other users via the Piwigo extension repository.
