Color film scanned with Nikon Coolscan LS-50

Scanned photos

Years ago I started scanning my collection of film negatives and slides with a Nikon Coolscan LS-50 film scanner (also known as Nikon Coolscan V ED). The negatives and slides were taken with a Minolta Dynax 7000i analog camera from 1987 till 2003. Apart from my own negatives and slides, I discovered also very old ones (roughly from 1960-1965) at my parents home. It is remarkable how good the condition of most of the negatives was when the were scanned.

The Nikon Coolscan LS-50 film and slide scanner had, at the time I bought it, a good balance between quality and cost. Unfortunately Nikon stopped making film scanners and these scanners are nowadays hard to get second hand in good condition for a reasonable price.

It took some time to develop a scanning workflow and finding the best settings for the Nikon Scan software. As Nikon stopped supporting the scanner and Nikon Scan software it became more difficult to get the software working under windows 10. But this is still possible! Adobe Lightroom was used to perform color corrections etc. and add metadata.
